Blood Orange Margarita — Why it’s a Winter Favorite
Blood orange is a seasonal flavor only available during winter. Its bright red color is festive and reminds people of the holidays. Blood oranges add a seasonal twist to the traditional margarita.
“Blood oranges have a tart, tangy flavor,” said Julio Bermejo, owner of San Francisco’s oldest tequila bar and its sister restaurant in Mexico City. “The orange tang is balanced with the acidity of the lime.”
People enjoy a seasonal margarita because of its festive style and its deliciousness. It is refreshing and seasonal, and it allows people to enjoy seasonal flavors before they return to their regular drinks.
The seasonal blood orange margarita has become popular year over year, and we are excited about introducing it to our cocktail menu again this season.
A Little Background into This Colorful Cocktail
Blood oranges are a seasonal fruit, typically found in winter and early spring. Our Blood Orange Margaritas are a seasonal favorite for a reason — their beautiful color and delicious flavor make them perfect for any celebration! But where did blood oranges come from?
The first blood oranges are thought to have been grown in Northern Afghanistan and Southern Turkmenistan, and they soon spread around the world. They’re often used in Italian cuisine, particularly in sorbets and sauces.
Their taste is sour, like grapefruit, but with a touch more sweetness. They range in color from dark red to deep purple, and they’re easy to spot because they’re usually sold pre-peeled.
You have plenty of time to enjoy our seasonal drink this holiday season. If you’re looking for something festive and refreshing, don’t miss out on the Blood Orange Margarita at Uncle Julio’s.
